One of things that brings me joy is being around dogs. My love and passion for these beautiful animals stems from my childhood. I saw early on how smart and trainable they are as well as recognized how their companionship would help me shake off a bad day. Learning and training the neighborhood dogs growing up wasn't just a fun hobby, it was a stepping stone in helping me gain confidence. Which in turn led me to have the courage to embrace new adventures. And Lord knows, I have my share of adventures!
Naturally, I would become a certified dog trainer. I mean, why not, right? And I'm glad that I did. My training journey led me to managing a well-known multi-facility dog training company. I personally had the pleasure of training hundreds of dogs to do everything from basic obedience to service dogs to scent dogs. Doing nose work with a German Shepherd to teach it to have critical job is so fun and rewarding. Have you ever stopped and thought, how do the dogs know how to find missing people or drugs or bombs? These are dangerous tasks, but with an experienced trainer it can be done. And done well.
Fast forward to today, I am training dogs on our farm as well as helping other dog owners train their dogs through online coaching calls. Occassionally, I'll post training videos online. To learn more, head over to my Expert Dog Training website.
In our home, we are all about saving lives, including animal lives. When we moved to our farm in Arkansas, I knew we needed to rescue dogs. I mean, how could we not? So then came Shalom Sanctuary, our animal rescue and santuary.
Saving and training these dogs is one thing. But seeing the dogs be adopted by wonderful, loving families, that's what makes it all worth it. IYKYK. If you are interested in adopting or dog training, let us know via email and we'll get back to you.
